Social media as a tool for disseminating information
Social media has been incredibly helpful in today's society for providing enjoyment for all of us, but how can it assist family, the government, and social workers in discerning information during disasters? Also, is there any difference between times with and without social media?
Well, in times of calamities such as landslide, storm, and earthquake, social media is our main tool to connect with people because social media helps us specially the government and the social workers to keep people informed about what is currently happening. As we all know most of us special teenagers are utilized to our gadgets that means, it is easier for us to be updated on the news. In addition to that, like what late vice president Leni Robredo did she uses social media to update the public about what provinces needed help, how many rescuers are needed, and what can people donate to help our fellow Filipinos that has been affected by the calamities.
Since we now have social media like Messenger that may help us maintain our connection with family members, social media is also a tremendous aid for families because it enables us to stay in touch with them. Social media helps me and my family in a way that we can immediately be updated on the potential typhoons and even on each other's situations because this year has been difficult due to all the typhoons hitting our country.
If you differentiate the time without social media and now that we have it, we can say that it somehow difficult for others to stay informed way back in times that there’s no social media since not all of them have the ability to purchase their own TV and radio. Even we have newspapers that has been accessible for everyone in that time it still difficult because it takes time to be published considering that sometimes unexpected calamity or disaster happens it will take time to inform people about it. Therefore, it is notable to say that without social media we’re using in today’s generation communication and giving updates to the public would still be difficult for us.
